for karaoke and a featured performance by Benjamin Miller around 8:30pm and interludes by DJ Mia all night.
Benjamin Miller (he/they) is an artist, performer, tarot reader, and art therapist based in Santa Fe, NM. www.benjonmiller.com Ben says -
“In every person, there's a tree of alchemy waiting to unfurl, but sometimes our experiences thwart that tree's growth. Emotions and dreams get buried beneath knots of tension and ponds of dullness in the body. In my art, my wish is to notice where I sense these orbs of tension and existential constipation--then do what I can to bring openness and playfulness into those spaces. Art, music, movement, and group gatherings all have the power to catalyze that magical process. My hope is that my performances can give us a collective experience in which our shared energy can be liberated, even if only a little, from the constraints it may face in daily life."
With this event we’re celebrating the rebirth of spring and the reawakening of FMK after a long slumber. Of the astrological significance of this moon, Kayle says -
“The May full moon is often referred to as the Flower Moon. This yearly full moon happens when the Sun is in the sign of Taurus and the Moon is in the sign of Scorpio. The Taurus/Scorpio relationship is based upon sensuality, embodiment, and the cusps of life and death. Taurus represents the reawakening or rebirth of the Earth (Spring) while Scorpio brings us the quieting of the Earth and the beginning of The Long Night (Autumn). Flowers are not only a reminder of birth and life, but also reproduction and death. The flower holds the cycle of earthly existence- the joy of being and the reminder that we are just one part of a larger movement of cosmic change.
This Flower Moon also happens to be a lunar eclipse, which astrologically suggests a heightening of the releasing powers of a full moon. The Taurus (sun)/Scorpio (moon) lunar eclipse is a great time to examine one’s desires; where they stem from, how one might want to channel them, and what needs to be let go of in order to pursue the desires worth dedicating time to.”
